Webinar Description

The 2020 resurgence of the Movement for Black Lives fueled unprecedented momentum for meaningful changes within organizations across America. Organizations increased their investments in diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) initiatives, especially anti-racist initiatives. As we get ready to enter 2022, what have we learned? Of all of the public statements of solidarity, accountability and promises to do better, where do we stand today?

Watch a virtual panel of three experienced DEI consultants swap stories from their experiences of working behind-the-scenes with companies advancing DEI initiatives. Panelists cover answers to commonly asked questions such as:

  • What’s the most effective way to roll out DEI initiatives? Top-down? Bottom-up? Some other approach?
  • Is unconscious bias training effective or not? And under what circumstances?
  • Should DEI training be mandatory or voluntary? Why or why not?
  • How important is it that organizations dedicate a high-level leadership position to DEI?

No matter whether you and your organization are just starting to consider DEI initiatives or you’re a long-time veteran to DEI work, you’re bound to walk away with more insight into what makes an effective—or ineffective—DEI initiative.

Panelists include:

  • Zhen Cheng, DEI Consultant and Licensed Psychologist, A Healing Place for Trauma
  • Erika McCalpine, Director of the DEI Lab and Executive Director of Strategic Diversity Initiatives, OSU-Cascades
  • Anne Sinkey, Program Manager, OSU Center for Advancing Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in Business

Moderated by:

  • Audrey Iffert-Saleem, Director, OSU Center for Advancing Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in Business
